Test Scores

We're not a test prep sort of place. We emphasize creativity and critical thinking, the arts, technology, and learning for learning sake...but it sure is nice when our test scores rock on top of all that.

We take the Iowa Assessments, which may be more familiar by their older name, ITBS.

In order to gauge our progress for the year, we look to the growth scores. Expected growth is based on the student's starting point. A student in the 20th percentile might be expected to gain 12 points on a test, whereas a student in the 90th percentile might be expected to gain 18 points on the same test. This measure makes sense to us; it holds us accountable for advancing each student appropriately to his/her starting point.

Our school-wide averages for the 2016-17 school year are:

English Language Arts

  • exceeded expected growth by 141%
  • increased 1.08 grade levels in one year

Social Studies

  • exceeded expected growth by 142%
  • increased 1.25 grade levels in one year

Math

  • exceeded expected growth by 240%
  • increased 2 grade levels in one year

Science

  • exceeded expected growth by 256%
  • increased 2.5 grade levels in one year
